Eine Auftragsarbeit für Miniaturenland. Vom ersten Moment an habe ich mich in das Sculpt verliebt. Als ich es dann selber in den Händen hielt und bemalte, durfte ich mich wirklich von der Perfektion des Sculpts überzeugen. Ich möchte an dieser Stelle die Sculpts von Jeff Grace (modelliert für Dark Sword Miniatures) ausdrücklich empfehlen, denn sie sind von atemberaubender Schönheit und Perfektion. Sie machen wirklich auch Spaß beim Bemalen, denn sie sind nicht ganz so fein wie die Sculpts von Tom Meier und daher selbst für einen nicht ganz so geübten Maler durchaus eine Option.
Es hat mir sehr, sehr viel Spaß gemacht den Thief of Hearts zu bemalen und sehe es als eines der besten Sculpts die ich je bemalt habe. Ursprünglich hatte ich eine ganz andere Vision von ihr aber der Kunde wollte gerne kräftige Farben, weshalb ich Verschiedenes vorschlug. Der Kunde entschied sich dann schlussendlich für dieses Farbschema.
Konzept:
Ein richtiges Konzept gab es nicht, weil der Kunde auch nicht wünscht, dass ich irgendeine Basegestaltung vornehme die über das bloße Bemalen der Basen hinaus geht.
Trotzdem gab es einige Überlegungen. Zum Beispiel, dass ich gerne etwas dezentes, zartes machen und auf zu knallige Farben verzichten wollte. Ich habe einen hohen Kontrast angestrebt, da sie noch auf Entfernung in einer Vitrine wirken sollte. Während des Malens entschied ich mich für eine limitierte Palette. Denn ich fand, der Warm-Kalt-Kontrast (Blau-Orange) trägt das Sculpt ausreichend und jede weitere Farbe würde das Dezente, das ich anstrebte, zunichte machen. Aus diesem Grund bat ich auch den Kunden mir zu erlauben, dass ich dieses Mal ausnahmsweise Sand auf die Base kleben durfte. Diesen Sand konnte ich nämlich in den passenden Farben bemalen und vermied es so, grünes Gras auf der Base zu haben - was meiner Ansicht nach unpassend gewesen wäre.
Die Farben die ich verwendet habe sind:
Non Metallic Metal Kupfer: Ich habe das Kupfer nach dem Rezept von Thierry Husser gemalt.
Ich habe es genau nach Empfehlung gemalt mit Chocolate Brown (VMC), Red Leather (VMC), Sunny Skintone (VMC) und Weiß.
Die Haut:
Basis = Cadmio Skin (VGC) Mitteltöne = 2nd base (Andrea Paints), Dark Fleshtone (VGC),
Schatten = Burnt Umber (VMC), Storm Blue (VGC), Dark Fleshtone (VGC),
Highlights = Light Flesh (VMC). Das Cape: Basis = Storm Blue (VGC) gemischt mit Cold Grey (VGC), Schatten = Storm Blue,
Dark Fleshtone (VGC), Red Leather (VMC) und Schwarz, Highlights = Weiß gemischt mit Basis.

Die Arbeitszeit betrug genau 63,5 Stunden. Bemalt wurde sie mit den Windsor Newton series 7 miniature Gr.0 und Gr.2. Leider ist sie nicht ganz fertig geworden. Ich hatte eine klare Deadline und musste sie zum Kunden schicken, ohne die letzten Pinselstriche noch anbringen zu können. Aber ich habe noch ein unbemaltes Sculpt von ihr und werde sicher noch eine zweite Version von ihr malen. Wo ich mir soviel Zeit wie nötig lasse. Für die zweite Version ist dann auch ein Freehand auf dem Cape geplant, hier hat die Zeit leider nicht mehr gereicht.

Commissioned work for Miniaturenland. I fell in love from the first moment when I saw this sculpt. When I held it in my hands and painted it, I could really convince myself that the sculpt is pure perfection. At this opportunity I would like to recommend the sculpts by Jeff Grace (he is sculpting for Dark Sword Miniatures) because they are really breathtaking and perfect sculpted. Apart from that it is great fun to paint them because they are not as fine as the sculpts by Tom Meier and so even an unexperianced painter can handle them.
I had a lot of fun painting this sculpt and would say that it is one of the greatest sculpts I ever painted. First I had a totally different vision of her but the customer wished strong colours and so I suggested a couple of colour schemes and the customer decided himself for the current one.
The Concept: To be honesty, there hasn`t been a real concept because the customer always wish that I only paint the sculpted bases and not more. Neverthless I had a couple of ideas.
I wished to paint her decent and delicate and wanted to avoid bold colours. I went for a good contrast because she has to look good into a showcase. While painting I decided myself for a limited palette because I supposed that each additonal colour would destroy my colour scheme and I thought the blue/orange, warm/cold contrast is enough for making the sculpt look intresting. Because of the limited palette I asked the customer if he would allow me to glue some sand on the base because I could paint it in suitable colours then and so I didn`t had to paint the green gras which I didn`t like for the colour scheme.
The colours I used are:
For the NMM Copper: I did the nmm copper according a recipe by Thierry Husser.
I exactly used the colours he recommended which are Chocolate Brown (VMC), Red Leather (VMC), Sunny Skintone (VMC) and White.
Skintones:
Basecolour = Cadmio Skin (VGC), Midtones = 2nd base (Andrea Paints),Dark Fleshtone (VGC), Shadows = Burnt Umber (VMC), Storm Blue (VGC),Dark Fleshtone (VGC), Highlights = Light Flesh (VMC).
The Cape:
Storm Blue (VGC) mixed with Cold Grey (VGC), shaded with Storm Blue, Dark Fleshtone (VGC), Red Leather (VMC) and Black.

Working time has been exactly 63,5 hours and the brushes I used are the Windsor Newton series 7 miniature size 0 and size 2.
Unfortunatly I couldn`t finish her entirely because I have had a hard deadline and had to sent her in time to the customer so the very last final touches are missed. But I have got a second unpainted sculpt of her and I will do her a second time for sure. Next time I will spend as much time as necessary with her and I would also love to do a freehand on the cape. This time there wasn`t any time left so I had to finish her without a freehand.
